Section 21 is an old housing area in the city of Petaling Jaya, neighbouring the other housing developments which are similarly named Section 19 and Section 14. Its immediate neighbour is Taman SEA and Taman Paramount, or better known by the locals as Paramount Garden. The houses here have existed since the British occupation, hence, their completion dates and developers are unknown.The houses in Section 21 consist of a good mix of bungalows and terrace homes, with even an apartment to throw into the mix. The houses here vary in age and condition, as many of the homes have been renovated numerous times by their owners. The cheapest of the properties here would be the apartments that cost only RM320,000 for a 2-bedroom place, while an old double storey terrace house costs an insane RM1,780,000. A brand new bungalow commands the highest price of all at RM3,500,000.As most of the homes in Section 21 are being sold second hand, many of them come already semi-furnished. The most common furnishings would be a practically fully furnished kitchen with inbuilt kitchen cabinets, hoods and hobs. Many of the bedrooms come with inbuilt wardrobes as well, while all the homes are already equipped with light and fan fixtures.The residents of Section 21 enjoy a wide range of amenities. The closest wet market which opens daily would be in SS2, while the next closest one would be in Section 14. The neighbourhood shopping mall is the SS2 Mall, while not too far from home are Jaya 33 and the soon to open Jaya Shopping Centre. Approximately 20 minutes away in PJ New Town is a hub of banks, while closer to home are many choice eateries. Schools are not a worry at all as there are many primary and secondary schools in the area.Section 21 is well connected via the inside roads to various parts of Petaling Jaya, while Kuala Lumpur is a mere 20 minutes away via the Sprint Highway. The Federal Highway is equally close to home as well, although traffic congestion may make it seem further. The public transport that serves the area are the Asia Jaya LRT and the Taman Jaya LRT, and a number of RapidKL busses pass through the neighbourhood via the main roads as well.

    Section 21 is an old development in Petaling Jaya, and is highly sought after as permanent homes by the wealthy from the upper income bracket. However, one of the major drawbacks from being located in a highly matured neighbourhood is the extremely high density which causes severe traffic congestion during peak hours.Although many solutions have been proposed and implemented to ease the traffic, Section 21 remains a difficult to access neighbourhood during peak hours. However, there is seldom any doubt that if you own a house in this housing area or any of its neighbours, you are of the upper income bracket.As a result of its popularity, Section 21 makes and extremely good investment, whether in the short term or the long term. It makes an equally good permanent home for home seekers, as it is close to all the necessities and main access roads.Being an older development, Section 21 is not within a gated nor guarded area; neither are there playgrounds for the children. As a matter of fact, the safety of the residents have deteriorated in the past years as the crime rate increased. Snatch thefts are rampant now, and walking out late in the evening or after dark is not advisable.
