Taman Sri Minang is a development that is located in the area of Kajang, which was turned into the capital of Hulu Langat, one of Selangor's districts, because of its proximity to the district's center in the 1800s. Now, it seems to be gaining more popularity as the center of Selangor itself. The nearest other development is the high-end Saujana Impian.Noticing that there is now a boom in its recent population, the township is wasting no time in accommodating all the newcomers into the area. One of the residential areas which have sprouted up is Taman Sri Minang, which is a regular housing project designed to accommodate the rising number of dwellers seeking a new life.Considering that Kajang is a matured area that is established, there are a whole host of recreational and lifestyle facilities around the area. This includes places for shopping needs such as the old Billion Shopping Centre and the more recent Metro Kajang, Metro Point, Kompleks Kota Kajang and big, well-known retailers like Giant, Tesco and Jusco. Medical assistance is provided by hospitals Kajang, Putrajaya and Serdang and a handful of privately run clinics and medical centres. Food has always been a favourite amongst many, if not all, Malaysians and there are eateries close by to the Taman Sri Minang neighbourhood to cater to that. Some of the choices include the Fook Loy Seafood Restaurant, Sharkey Pizza Kajang and Dai Chong Food Court. For residents of Taman Sri Minang who would like to fulfil their religious duties, there are places of worship available for them to do so such as the Masjid Kajang. This mosque is a visual attraction as much as it serves as a place of prayer, made distinctive by its bright yellow paintwork and is particularly vibrant with religious activity. There is also the Pertubuhan Buddhist Manju Suddhi and the Kajang assembly of God for non-Muslims. The area manages to prove itself as an educational hub with numerous primary, secondary and tertiary institutes such as SMK Convent, SMJK (C) Yu Hua and SMK Jalan Bukit. There is also the Stadium Kajang which serves as an arena for budding sports people to gather and train or have friendly matches. The SILK Expressway is the main highway used to get from the main Kajang area to its many other townships, and most notably to Cheras. Residents will also be able to enjoy easy access to Bangi, Putrajaya and the Kuala Lumpur city centre via the Cheras-Kajang Expressway (CKE) or the North-South Highway (NSH). Taman Sri Minang is also situated very near to the KTM Kajang station, which is about 2km away, enabling residents to have direct access to many other locales by the Rawang-Seremban Route as well.

With so many amenities on hand within the vicinity of the township of Taman Sri Minang, residents will not have to venture far from the comforts of home. Kajang itself is famous for its satay. Informally, Kajang is known as the "Satay Town", and is famous among tourists and locals alike. All of the humanly necessities such as food, entertainment, education and medical care will only be a hop, a skip and a jump away. In addition, the township is snugly ensconced in the middle of a tract land where residents will still be able to enjoy their privacy and the quietness of the surroundings when needed, but still be in the presence of the city. However, there is also the congestion which happens quite often along the roads leading in to and out of the Kajang area, which means that residents of Taman Sri Minang will have to contend with traffic jams just to get home or when leaving for another place. The NSH and CKE are the ones which play the major contributing factor to this as during peak hours, users of both the highways will be coming to an from the city centre, the main business hub. There is good news for residents though. Under one of the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA) and the Government Transformation Programme (GTP), the federal government announced that they will improve the public transport system by building a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system where Kajang is included with nine stations within the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) area.
