Unipark refers to the high-rise condominium buildings located in the midst of private colleges and universities in Bangi, Selangor. Used to consist of only two buildings, now Unipark has four, after the launch of what is lauded as Phase 2A. Consequently, Unipark, a freehold work by The Protasco Group, is now an expanding residential development, with the latter phase targeted to be completed by 2018, eleven years after the completion of the first phase. The first phase of Unipark is said to be a lab rat for an expansive De Centrum development. Like many major developments going on in the country at the moment, De Centrum will feature a shopping complex, a building dedicated for SoHo units and a serviced residence apartment. The new additions to Unipark is a signal that Unipark is very much a part of this major project. In regard to Unipark, it is known to house college students as it is very close to several colleges like Infrastructure University of Kuala Lumpur (formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College KLIUC) and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).The layouts of all the units at Unipark are quite standard, expect for one. Coming in under Phase 2A, Type B is a duplex condominium, that will feature up to 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. To add to the uniqueness of this type of units, a dual-key system is integrated into it. Like all the units of the second phase, Type B will have all the bathrooms attached in the bedrooms. Such configuration might have been backed by the fact that it would make Unipark more profitable to be tenanted by students.Whenever Unipark is mentioned, the nearby colleges and universities come to mind. This is because the property has colleges around the immediate area. Infrastructure University College KLIUC) and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) are previous mentions. More are Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Meanwhile Limkokwing University of Creative Technology and University of Nottingham (Malaysian campus) are the ones located further away in Cyberjaya and Semenyih, respectively. Not forgetting the little ones, international schools are also available for the residents of Unipark. Nexus International School, Alice Smith International School and Tanarata International School are the names of those schools. Of course, educational institutions are not the only amenities that are on offer. Hospital Serdang is the nearest stop for medical maladies, while people can relax and enjoy vast space, lakes and golf at Bangi Golf Resort, IOI Golf Resort and Saujana Impian Golf & Country Club. The malls options are almost as good as the college options, with Alamanda and The Mines in the midst. IOI City Mall is a new one in construction, and will be ready by the end of 2014. Of course, more amenities can be enjoyed from the De Centrum Vicinity, with malls, commercial lots and SoHo units expected to offer lots more type of businesses. In term of roads and highways, Unipark is accessible through SILK Highway, PLUS and Jalan Sungai Besi. Serdang KTM Komuter train station is the place to get public trains, in addition to the proposed MRT stations at Uniten and UPM. The MRT stations will increase the opportunity for public transportation for the people of Unipark.

Protasco Group is a company that has ventured and succeeded in other industries besides property development. The first phase of Unipark was its first ever dabble in the property game, and it is set to continue with De Centrum, and subsequently phase 2A of Unipark. Of course, major names like Gamuda, Sime Darby or IJM Land would be preferable to be seen as the developers of the projects that you are interested in, as the developer's brand can be a certain factor. The brand of Protasco as a property developer is not strong at the moment, and it has not been helped by the long handover period of the first phase of Unipark (6 years). It is said that De Centrum is being developed with the idea of turning it into the next Mont Kiara. That vision will be ready to be realised with the completion of the many developments planned by Protasco. However for now, the surrounding area of Unipark is populated with colleges and universities. Clearly, this is not Kuala Lumpur just yet.Protasco has gone to lengths to cater to the need of the surrounding colleges and universities by providing units that are meant to be tenanted to students. The addition of 8-bedroom unit is a testament to that. With the addition of future MRT stations, rental opportunities from Unipark have a good chance. Families and those who want to buy for own stay might want to have a second look, but investors would definitely thrive with Unipark units.
