Kuala Lumpur: Dato’ Khor Chap Jen, President and CEO of S P Setia Berhad said that the group is committed to find the cause of the pedestrian bridge at the Abdullah Hukum project site that gave way.
“We want to stress that public safety is our top priority and we will do our best to ensure that the consultants and contractors we engaged for this project adhere strictly to the highest safety standards during construction,” he said.
Work for the link bridge commenced in October 2015 and the main structure was completed in early August 2016 with the finishing targeted to complete by end December 2016.
“We are grateful to the authorities including the Fire and Rescue Services, police and medical services and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) for the immediate assistance upon our notification of the incident,” he continued.
DOSH officers were on site earlier today to conduct inspections. Detailed investigations are still on going and the project team is working very closely with the relevant authorities.
