PERTH: UEM Sunrise Bhd (UEM Sunrise) has received development approval from DevelopmentWA, the central land and development agency of the Western Australian State Government, for Lots 1 and 2 at The Oval within Subiaco East. This mixed-use residential project, planned over a 1.2-acre site, represents the first approval within the Subiaco East Masterplan. It aims to address local housing supply needs while introducing innovative living solutions.
This milestone allows UEM Sunrise to transform the lots into elegant tiered structures, with Lot 1 featuring heights of 36 and 26 storeys, and Lot 2 standing at 11 storeys. The project is designed to uphold a high standard of urban aesthetics that reflects the local heritage and lifestyle. The development offers a variety of living options, including one, two and three-bedroom apartments and townhouses, promoting intergenerational living with multi-family residences and diverse amenities to encourage connection and inclusivity.
In a commitment to community welfare, UEM Sunrise is dedicating 12% of the units to affordable housing, ensuring that local essential workers have access to quality homes and a vibrant urban lifestyle.
“This project is not only about bringing our unique UEM Sunrise experience to Perth but also about supporting the local market in meeting pressing housing demands and creating a sustainable, inclusive community. Through this development, we are showcasing our expertise in innovation, quality, and design excellence on a global stage,” said UEM Sunrise chief executive officer Sufian Abdullah.
The project is also set to achieve a 5-star Green Star rating under the new Green Star v1.0 standard, further emphasising UEM Sunrise’s commitment to sustainability. Community-oriented facilities will include infrastructure to support events at Heritage Gates Park and storage for local football clubs at The Oval, along with 400 sq m (4,305.5 sq ft) of retail space on the ground floor of Lot 1. These additions will enrich the Subiaco Oval precinct, enhancing its appeal as a hub of connectivity and vibrant living.
With thoughtfully curated communal areas, this development is expected to commence construction in 2026, offering a sustainable and community-centric living environment in Perth.
