PETALING JAYA: In a significant move towards eco-friendly development, Tropicana Corporation Bhd (Tropicana) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GreenRE Sdn Bhd (GreenRE). This partnership signifies Tropicana's long-term commitment to building sustainable communities and achieving green building excellence.
The MoU establishes a framework for Tropicana to adopt best practices as outlined by GreenRE, a prominent green building certification body in Malaysia. With over 17 developments with green building certifications, this collaboration aligns with Tropicana's ongoing environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments to promote eco-friendly living for residents and reduce its operations' environmental impact.
"For over 45 years, Tropicana has been a master planner for more than 10 townships nationwide. We recognise the importance of sustainability, and this MOU marks a crucial milestone in our journey towards green building practices. This initiative encourages a cleaner, greener future for our residents and aligns with our ESG goals,” said deputy chief executive officer of Tropicana Khoo Thian Shyang.
“For many years, Tropicana has supported green building techniques. Our shared vision for a sustainable future is reflected in this partnership. To help Malaysia become greener, we hope to encourage other developers to join us,” commended GreenRE executive director Ashwin Thurairajah during the signing ceremony.
Tropicana has received GreenRE provisional awards for two new developments, the Avisa 2 at Tropicana Alam Puncak Alam and TwinPines at Tropicana Grandhill Genting Highlands. This recognition highlights Tropicana's dedication to building sustainable communities, not just residences.
Tropicana also focuses on creating townships that foster a connected and sustainable lifestyle. Its design approach prioritises harmony between indoor and outdoor spaces, incorporating elements like scenic parks, lakes, jogging tracks and dedicated recycling areas.
Additionally, Tropicana utilises energy and water-efficient features, high-speed internet connectivity, EV charging stations and excellent accessibility. All projects undergo rigorous evaluation and certification by the Quality Assessment System in Construction (Qlassic), ensuring superior workmanship, safety and health standards.
