The sole winner of the "Most Transacted Sales" award at the StarProperty.my Real Estate Awards (SREA) in 2018, Dezmond Lim, speaks about competition and working with first-time homebuyers
Could you briefly describe how you got into real estate?
I joined the real estate industry in 2016. Since my time in university, I realised that a lot of successful entrepreneurs are related to the property industry – so, I hoped to be one. After graduation, I immediately joined the real estate industry as a property agent. This is because I knew that in this industry, I would be able to earn a handsome income.
What is your area of expertise?
I have pride in my passionate and heartfelt drive to serve my clients' best interests. I am dedicated, knowledgeable, and committed to finding the perfect fit for my clients. I give courteous customer service that has resulted in my customers becoming walking advertisements. I am experienced in marketing sub-sale property as well as new projects. I have established relationships with developers, buyers, sub-sale homeowners.
You recently won the "Most Transacted Sales" award at the StarProperty.my Real Estate Awards (SREA) in 2018, what advice would you have for other property agents looking to win an award at the next SREA in 2019?
For me in order to be successful in this field, you have to possess this few things, the most important is to add value to people around you, your clients and group members – if you do that, success will become reality.
Secondly, we have to follow the rules of BOVAEA and serve our customers with honesty and sincerity to make our customers have confidence in us.
What is your experience of working with first time home buyers?
Usually, first time home buyers have little knowledge on the procedure of buying a house. I will guide them step by step and explain details to them professionally – so they will be able to get their dream house with ease.
What are your predictions for the future of the property market?
I believe that the market will continue experiencing “confidence gaining growth” as potential buyers and investors are switching from a wait-and-see approach to genuinely seeking for good bargains in the market. At the same time, developers are now aggressively promoting their products by conducting nation-wide roadshows and promotions.
What could other real estate agents do to be more competitive?
I strongly believe that opportunities await those who are ready. If you remain dedicated and ambitious, then you will be exceptional.
