Residents are worried over the newly erected signboards in the Taman Megah indicating that the LDP will redirect traffic through Jalan SS24/10 to exit to SS4, Taman Bahagia,
SOME 39 units of houses along Jalan SS24/10 in Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya, want their traffic woes to be heard and resolved by the authorities.
They want a sustainable traffic plan that benefits everyone.
The residents also feel that an upcoming highrise development in their neighbourhood and the future Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) traffic plan will add stress to their existing traffic woes.
Resident Y.L. Yong said that prior to 2000, all roads in the neighbourhood were accessible to the public.
The residents found the traffic congestion during peak hours stressful and worried about accidents while exiting their houses, she said.
However, their main concern is the potential future traffic congestion along the road caused by the development and the upcoming LDP traffic plan.
Newly erected signboards in their neighbourhood indicate that the LDP will redirect traffic through Jalan SS24/10 to exit to SS4, Taman Bahagia, Puchong and Putrajaya, and this has become a cause for concern.
“There are several such signboards, and we fear more will be using our road as a shortcut to Puchong or Putrajaya,” Yong said.
She suggested that authorities close public access at the intersection of Jalan SS24/10 and Jalan SS24/1.
“We have noticed new signboards indicating that traffic heading to Taman Bahagia and Puchong will be accessing Jalan SS24/10. This is the only accessible public road in Taman Megah because others are permanently closed under the gated-and-guarded system.
“Those who live in Jalan SS24/10 will be suffering the most in the future. We want our plight to be heard,” Yong said.
She suggested that as an alternative plan, motorists could use Jalan SS24/10 and Jalan SS23/17.
She said she hoped the authorities sympathise with the residents here.
“We have conveyed our problems to our municipal councillor, the Petaling Jaya City Council and the LDP operator.
“We hope they will do the best for us,” she said.
