SETTLERS of Taman Kepong wants a discussion to be held with Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, his deputy Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan and Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz on the fate of their 63-year-old temple.
"We want a discussion to be held with them and the developer of the land as there were no discussions held yet.
"All the settlers have been compensated to move but nothing has been done for the temple," said MCA vice youth chief Tan Kok Eng when met with more than 30 of the settlers at Menara DBKL 1.
He said the 526 settlers have been resettled to a low cost flat by the developer.
In Dec last year, committee members of the Hock Sui Tong temple in Kepong took legal action against a property developer’s decision to evict the community temple to make way for development.
Temple caretaker and chairman Ng Ah Sang, 43, said then that the committee had approached a lawyer to get an injunction against the eviction.
An eviction notice was served on Aug 24 and demanded the temple cease operations and be demolished within seven days.
On Nov 19, Ng was served a notice requesting the temple committee to be present at the High Court on Nov 21.
