PETALING JAYA: Master community developer Sunway Property has announced that they had entered into a lease agreement via its subsidiary Sunway PKNS Sdn Bhd with GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
The signing will see the opening of a Mercato grocery store at the retail space of Sunway d’Hill, Kota Damansara, measuring a total of 20,409 sq ft across 11 of the 29 retail lots available within the development which represents 38% of the total net floor area.
Sunway Property chief executive officer Chong Sau Min said: “GCH Retail has consistently demonstrated a knack for identifying strategic locations to fuel its expansion. We are delighted to welcome Mercato at Sunway d’Hill, as a testament to Sunway Property's proven track record in fostering high-growth communities.”
He added, “We’re happy with this new partnership and confident that it will be a win for both Mercato and Sunway d’Hill, as it will further elevate Sunway d’Hill’s attractiveness amongst homebuyers. This is also an opportune time, as our annual Signature Series sales campaign has just started, and buyers will be able to enjoy exciting deals.”
This follows Mercato’s recent store opening in January 2024 in the heart of downtown KL at The Exchange TRX. Mercato, known for its discerning selection of staples around the world, will provide fresh produce, artisanal meats, gourmet cheeses, and bakery delights.
Sunway d’Hill is a mixed-use development situated on 6.46 acres of leasehold land in the mature township of Kota Damansara, adjacent to the Kota Damansara Community Forest Reserve which is sited just 100m away, with a network of forest trails for trekking, hiking, and biking enthusiasts. Also present at the signing ceremony were GCH Retail director Datuk Gary Yap and property and leasing head Jerry Pan, PKNS real estate board of director Idris bin Ishak, Macrovalue Sdn Bhd deputy chairman Datuk Andrew Lim Tatt Keong and Sunway Property's project management senior general manager Adly Sham.
Meanwhile, Sunway Property is developing Sunway Medical Centre Damansara which is scheduled for completion in 2024 and located just 3km away from Sunway d’Hill.
Spanning 11 floors, this tertiary care hospital will feature over 250 beds, eight operating theatres, and over 80 specialist consultation suites. It will be operated by the multiple award-winning Sunway Healthcare Group which is also currently operating Sunway Specialist Centre Damansara (SSCD). Sunway Medical Centre Damansara is connected to Sunway Nexis via a link bridge. Sunway Property is also building a flyover connecting Jalan PJU 5/1 from Persiaran Surian to ease the traffic as a community service project.
