ISKANDAR PUTERI: Sunway Iskandar Sdn Bhd (SISB), the southern arm of Sunway Property, has formalised a partnership with GreenRE, one of Malaysia’s leading green building certification bodies. This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone for SISB, making it the first developer in Johor to comprehensively adopt GreenRE standards across all its projects.

Attending the partnership officiation were Sunway City Iskandar Puteri chief finance officer Lee Gek Ling, project management general manager Ng Chai Teck, chief executive officer Gerard Soosay, GreenRE executive director Ashwin Thurairajah, Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) Johor general manager Andrew Tan and UN Global Compact Network Malaysia and Brunei (UNGCMYB) board director Edey Suresh.

This partnership reinforces Sunway Property's commitment to sustainable urban development and aligns with the company's ambitious goals of creating thriving, eco-friendly communities. Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, SISB's flagship development, has already garnered numerous GreenRE certifications, demonstrating the company's leadership in sustainable building practices.

"This partnership with GreenRE reinforces our unwavering commitment to building communities that flourish. We aim to establish SCIP as Johor's largest GreenRE-certified township, setting a new benchmark for sustainable development in the region," said Soosay.

The collaboration will see SISB integrate green design principles, sustainable construction methods and environmentally responsible building operations across all its projects within SCIP. GreenRE will provide technical support, training and access to its latest sustainability standards, ensuring that all developments adhere to the highest environmental and social performance criteria.

This partnership aligns with Sunway Group's Green Building and Green Township policies, which mandate that all new developments and townships must be green-certified from 2025 onwards.
