AN OLD bus stop opposite The Summit USJ mall has been upgraded.
The bus stand has three benches, safety railings, lights and a stairway for better access, especially for USJ 2 residents.
Known to be heavily occupied by passengers from Subang to Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh said almost RM20,000 from her allocation was used for the bus stop’s refurbishment.
“We have expanded the bus stand by 1.673sqm to increase the capacity and installed lights and a staircase to enable people to walk up.
“I have also added a railing for the safety of passengers which cost RM5,000, from my own funds.
“This bus stop is very popular because it is the stop for those traveling from Subang to Kuala Lumpur.
“At a single time, easily 50 people could be waiting here,” she said.
Yeoh added that her priority on improving the public infrastructure in Subang Jaya was on bus stops.
“This year, we will fix bus stops, especially the ones that are heavily used by the public.
“This is the third bus stop we have refurbished this year.
“One is in front of Subang Parade and the other in front of Jalan SS19/7.
“We will continue to upgrade the bigger bus stops.
“Hopefully, the next one will be in front of Aeon in SS15, but that project is quite challenging as many taxis double-park in front of the building,” she said.
