THE Ipoh City Council (MBI) is gearing up for the Visit Perak 2017 by making sure that tourists will have the best service and experience in the city.
Ipoh mayor Datuk Zamri Man said the state government is doubling their efforts in making sure that the tourist spots in the state including Ipoh are in a good state.
As for the council, he said they are making sure that they are responsible for the lighting in Ipoh, making sure the roads are in good condition and also ensuring restaurants in the city are able to maintain a good cleanliness grade.
“We are hoping to see at least 1,200 restaurants attain an A-grade. The signs are encouraging.
“That’s the plan and we will make sure Visit Perak 2017 is a success.
“We’ve also built more bus stops in the city to ensure people can get access to public transportation,” he said during MBI’s Innovation Day at the Town Hall.
Zamri said they are always in contact with the state committees involved in Visit Perak 2017 and it’s good to see that everyone is doubling their efforts to ensure the campaign is a success.
On the other hand, Zamri, advised his people to start innovating and not let others take credit for their efforts.
“Many people don’t seem to know that they are innovating. There are some quarters out there that will take advantage of this.
“Some of them have won awards but it wasn’t their idea in the first place. If you have an idea, work on it and patent it.
“Don’t just take it lightly. In a way, we are all innovators and it’s time to take notice of that,” he said.
In his council, he hopes to see at least one officer with one innovative idea and this idea was mooted last year and so far, they have seen at least 60 innovative groups in the council.
He gave the Car Free Day as an example, when he said the city was the first in Perak to introduce the day and since then, districts like Kuala Kangsar and Teluk Intan have started the initiative too.
“Innovation is important because it rejuvenates a unit. It’s in line with our plan to rejuvenate the council.
“We want to make sure that we do the best service for the Ipoh people and also work towards our goal of being the best local authority in the country.
“Innovation will also help us maintain our five star status.
We want the people here to get five star treatment and service,” he said.
