THE STATE government is targeting a 10% and 20% increase in international and domestic tourists arricals, respectively, for Visit Perak Year 2017.
State Tourism Committee Chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohd Radzi (BN-Tualang Sekah) said the state is projecting 322,000 international tourists, and 6.5mil domestic tourists.
She said the revenue expected from the arrivals next year is projected to be RM2.4bil.
“The preparations for Visit Perak Year 2017 in the State Tourism Strategy plan include promotions and marketing through billboards, making contact with the tourism industry players, media familiarisation trips, and international exhibitions,” she said in response to a question from Teh Kok Lim (DAP- Pokok Asam) during the State Assembly sitting on Monday.
She said the state’s tourism offerings that are being promoted fall in the categories of eco-tourism, theme parks, food, arts, culture and heritage among others.
On the allocation for Visit Perak Year, Nolee Ashilin said a total of RM10mil had been allocated under last year’s budget.
She said the costs included under the allocation cover preliminary preparations, administrative expenditures, infrastructure development, events, promotions and marketing.
