The StarProperty.my Awards 2019 was a star-studded night of celebration for our nation’s top developers. It is also a convention for like-minded individuals—industry experts, prominent stakeholders and financiers were assembled together to observe and push the boundaries of our nation-building capabilities. The night had long past, but the success of these developers deserves reiteration. Here is a list of our category winners to consider:
The Creative Touch Developments Award goes to the hotel development built with interior design in mind. The development should showcase a good combination of art and science of enhancing the interior of a hotel. The winning development encourages unique elements in its planning, design and construction.
Inspired by distinctive designs and malaysian influences
The design of W Kuala Lumpur combines contemporary sleek lines with a Malaysian identity. Its 55-storey facade is a unique blend of juxtaposed vertical rectangular windows cascading to the ground in an expression of movement and power that defines the dynamic display of the building.
The hotel’s interior, which follows a ‘convergence’ theme based on the founding of Kuala Lumpur at the confluence of the Gombak and Klang rivers, is characterised by flowing patterns played off against intelligent lighting together with ‘W’ motifs. Featured subtly throughout the exterior and interior designs via perforations in metal panelling and motifs carried in textiles is the ‘dot’ which symbolises Malaysia’s multi-cultural history.
In addition, landscaping elements are driven by a jungle theme. With 150 rooms and luxurious facilities, guests can enjoy all day dining at Flock, Cantonese delights at YEN or a taste of France at Saint Pierre. Then, there are WOOBAR and WET Deck where one can enjoy and relax over some drinks, while the AWAY Spa is perfect for a rejuvenating experience.
The Long Life Developments Award goes to the development that offers comprehensive health, fitness, and rejuvenation facilities. The winning development is designed with a holistic approach to providing residents with opportunities for living healthy lifestyles.
Creating long-term value for the community
Horizon Hills is a development that is truly one with nature—its master-plan calls for a balance between natural and man-made. Preserving the hilltops, rivers, ponds, waterways and an adjacent 200-acre forest, the developer has created a self-sustained town that is surrounded by nature’s beauty.
With 40% of the land dedicated to green lungs and water features, a central park plus pocket parks surrounding the neighbourhood, Horizon Hills is rich in biodiversity and presents a healthy ecosystem for its community. Besides the tranquil living environment, tight security is another key feature of the development while a diverse range of well-designed living spaces and sustainable value creation over the years have attracted more than 40 nationalities to call Horizon Hills home.
The Neighbourhood Developments Award goes to the township that has the best integration of the five crucial elements: Security, Amenities, Connectivity, Education, and Health. All five elements are given due attention and no effort is spared when it comes to enhancing each of them. Strategy being the name of the game, the winning township is designed and planned to deliver a seamless living experience within a short driving radius. The maximum area of the winning township should be below 500 acres.
Crafted for exclusive hilltop living
Ara Sendayan, an exclusive 194-acre hilltop development, comprises five phases of contemporary modern residences amid scenic surroundings that promote community interaction and healthy living.
Each precinct is complemented by its own pristine parks while a large common park that features a tree house, playground and outdoor gym, among others, encourages a healthy lifestyle. With security access for each parcel, residents can feel at ease and safe being home.
Ara Sendayan is readily connected to the North-South Highway, KLIA, Seremban town and Port Dickson while being close to the Sendayan Merchant Square, X Park with sports facilities that include go kart, futsal and badminton courts and driving range, as well as national and international schools, and retail outlets.
The Big Heart Developments Award goes to the developers that have consistently demonstrated their commitment to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities. These companies engage, support, and serve various communities close to their developments. These companies also place great emphasis on customer service from pre-sale to post-sales. Ultimately, the winning developers have the public’s interest close at heart.
Upholding CSR values as a corporate citizen
The Mah Sing Foundation, now in its 13th year, has always been involved in projects strongly aligned with the group’s vision and goals. Two flagship programmes, School+ and Mushroom Cultivation, were launched at Kampung Tudan in Sarawak.
School+ was launched in partnership with MyKasih to offer greater access to education for underprivileged children while the Mushroom Cultivation project, in collaboration with Hopes Malaysia, is aimed at empowering the community in Kampung Tudan to lead more economically sustainable lives.
An understanding and appreciation of the company’s culture is important in developing employees and retaining their services for many years. As a caring employer concerned about long-term career progression and prospects of its employees, the group launched UPLIVE -- a criteria of values inculcated among all Mah Sing employees to be used when spotting talent. These values include being authentic, collaborative, creative, courageous, having agility and a fun personality.
