KUALA LUMPUR: Neighbourhood grocer Mercearia will be opening its doors in property developer Mah Sing Group Bhd’s (Mah Sing) Southville City in Bangi early next year.
Aimed at providing convenience and to enhance the quality living experience of the surrounding community, Mercearia plans to occupy seven lots, spanning across 9,255 sq ft of retail space in Savanna Boulevard Shops.
“We are extremely excited about this new venture. The opening of Mercearia grocer marks a new milestone for Southville City, as this is the first gourmet grocer that will be opened in the township.
“We are confident that Mercearia’s opening in Southville City will provide great convenience to the owners and tenants on the back of its expertise, and track record of providing optimum service to customers.
“This, in turn, will promote more footfall and increase the occupancy of our retail outlets,” said Mah Sing chief operating officer Benjamin Ong.
He said Mah Sing has identified and is engaging businesses that will complement the grocer’s overall concept.
“This includes cafes, family restaurants, educational and edutainment centres, health and fitness services and many more. Presently, we have been receiving encouraging feedback from interested prospects and will be announcing their brands soon,” he added.
Mercearia chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Haniffa Abdullah said: “Southville City is an ideal location for us to open our latest store given its strategic location as it straddles around matured neighbourhoods with a large population growth. We intend to open more outlets in the future.”
The Mercearia brand, operated by Mahsa Grocers Sdn Bhd, was built upon a heritage of providing friendly accountable service to its customers by providing healthy, fresh and top quality food.
The company currently operates two stores, one in Petaling Jaya and the other in Kota Kemuning.
Quality Living Experience
Mah Sing CEO Datuk Ho Hon Sang said: “Southville City is our largest township in Klang Valley which is well equipped with various lifestyle amenities and features, coupled with strategic access to infrastructure and connectivity.
“We believe that Southville City has the potential to serve the estimated population of around 69,000 people upon its completion over the span of the next eight to 10 years.
“With all the on-going amenities in placed, we intend to create more excitement in the area, and the recent introduction of MERCERIA Grocer is one of the many new things lined-up for Southville City.”
Southville City sits on 428 acres of freehold land and has experienced robust growth over the past few years, following the completion of Avens Residence and the on-going vacant possession for the Savanna Executive Suites.
The affordably priced developments of Southville City, which include Towers A & B of Cerrado Suites, and Tower A of Sensory Residence also received encouraging response from the market.
As a responsible property developer, Mah Sing is committed to building Southville City as a sustainable township as half of Southville City’s land is planned for green development.
Among the green features are the Summit Park, a 10.8km jogging trail and a 7.1km cycling network that connects the whole township for residents to enjoy.
