By JONATHAN ROBERTS
ASPEN Vision City, an integrated smart city with eco-friendly features and first-class amenities, is poised to draw global attention. Located across Penang Island on the western ank of Seberang Perai, Aspen Vision City is destined to be a shining light for the Pearl of the Orient.
With a promise of true uniqueness and novel features, it came as no surprise that this stunning metropolis in the making bagged The Northern Star Excellence Award in the StarProperty.my Awards 2017.
The 245-acre Aspen Vision City will be one of Penang’s biggest mixed development designed to be a conducive address to work, live and play.
This freehold mega-development comprises condominiums, shop offices, serviced suites, hotels, office towers, financial hub, medical centre, international school and an array of impressive amenities including a state-of- the-art regional shopping centre and the rst IKEA outlet in the north of Peninsular Malaysia.
Apart from public amenities, the residents of Vertu Resort in Aspen Vision City will be able to enjoy one of the longest residential swimming pools in Asia at 152 metres.
Aspen Group has joined hands with IBM Malaysia to create a comprehensive cloud infrastructure and technological services platform to ensure that the development will be the first township in Malaysia to implement the Internet of Things (IoT) fully.
Residents will reap the benefits of a fully-integrated city where useful information can be generated, collected and transferred seamlessly.
A main criterion of a smart city is a top-notch safety structure. At Aspen Vision City, constant communication with the public and alerts on security will be paramount.
For this reason, Aspen Vision City will provide a platform where critical information on such urgent matters as emergency alerts and fire drills can be sent out quickly to the public as well as stakeholders.
To mitigate risks, this development will utilise smart solutions such as surveillance cameras, facial recognition and crowd assessment to monitor irregular activities, predict crime patterns and identify areas with recurring issues.
This award-winning township boasts a 25-acre Central Island Park, a ve-acre man-made oasis, designated bicycle lanes, jogging paths and picnic areas that contribute to a sense of communal living.
On top of that, Columbia Asia Medical Centre will be built within the development to fulfill all the basic necessities.
The meticulous planning of internal roads will make it easier for people in the community to reach other precincts. These roads will be linked to the entry points from the expressway and bridges to facilitate a smooth traf c ow.
This township of Batu Kawan has four access nodes: two from Penang Island and the other two from the North- South Highway. The comprehensive infrastructure of roads and interchanges also enhances Aspen Vision City’s connectivity to nearby townships.
The development is only minutes away from the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge, Penang’s second bridge, which means residents can enjoy a smooth journey when travelling to and from the island. A third access from the North-South Highway is being planned and augurs well for the area.
Aspen Vision City’s first phase is slated for completion in 2018 and will include the Vervéa commercial precinct, Columbia Asia Hospital and the first IKEA store in the north.
