SHAH ALAM: Sime Darby Property Bhd has announced the execution of a new build-and-lease agreement with Pearl Computing Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Pearl Computing), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore-based Raiden APAC Pte Ltd. This agreement will facilitate the development of additional data centre facilities within Elmina Business Park.
The data centre facilities will be tailored to specific specifications and infrastructure requirements, situated on a 77-acre plot within the business park. These additional facilities will be located near Pearl Computing’s inaugural data centre, which is currently under construction and is projected to be completed in early 2026.
With its well-established infrastructure, strategic positioning and carefully designed master plan, the 1,500-acre award-winning industrial township of Elmina Business Park is recognised as Klang Valley’s largest freehold industrial business hub. The township has emerged as a preferred destination for technology-driven industries. Securing these additional data centre projects further accelerates the development of the township, enhancing its attractiveness to global corporations.
Infrastructure development at the site is currently in progress, with the construction completion targeted for 2027. Subsequently, the parties will enter into a 20-year lease agreement valued at up to RM5.6bil, which includes options for renewal for an additional two five-year terms. This initiative aligns with the group’s SHIFT25 strategy by significantly increasing recurring income and expanding the Investment and Asset Management (IAM) segment's assets under management.
“This agreement exemplifies Sime Darby Property’s capability to deliver, own and lease data centres that align with the demands of the global digital economy, showcasing the technical sophistication and operational reliability required for mission-critical and complex infrastructure assets,” said Sime Darby Property group managing director Datuk Seri Azmir Merican.
“The establishment of these data centres within Elmina Business Park enhances Selangor’s status as a vital digital hub for Malaysia, supported by Selangor’s well-developed infrastructure, business-friendly policies and collaborative efforts from various authorities. We express our sincere gratitude to the federal government, Selangor state government, as well as the Selayang Municipal Council, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Air Selangor for their invaluable support in realising these projects,” he continued.
This agreement is a continuation of Sime Darby Property’s initial collaboration in the data centre sector, announced in May of this year, marking the group’s entry into this asset class. These initiatives signify a robust expansion into the high-value data centre sector and reaffirm Sime Darby Property’s role as a key facilitator in Malaysia’s digital transformation journey.
