PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby Property Bhd is dedicated to integrating arts and culture into sustainable urban development, particularly within the City of Elmina. At the heart of this initiative is the expansive 300-acre Elmina Central Park, which features six thematic parks—community, urban, forest, arts and cultural, sports and wildlife—interconnected by a 5km biodiversity corridor that promotes ecological balance.
In a significant step towards its vision, Sime Darby Property plans to launch Malaysia’s first outdoor sculpture museum, the Elmina Outdoor Sculpture Museum (EOSM). This venue aims to highlight Malaysian contemporary artists while also showcasing regional and global talents, positioning Elmina as a prominent site for global arts and culture.
“Sime Darby Property is committed to creating vibrant communities that thrive on creativity, culture and a deep connection with nature. Through our collaboration with local artists, we are redefining how urban spaces can inspire and sustain life. We believe in the power of art to transform environments, bring people together and connect us to the natural world, and we invite everyone to experience this firsthand,” said Sime Darby Property chief marketing and sales officer Datuk Lai Shu Wei.
The upcoming booth at CIMB Artober Art and Soul 2024, themed Where Creativity Meets Sustainability, reflects this emphasis by providing an immersive experience that merges creativity with eco-conscious design.
Featured at the booth are innovative furniture pieces made from upcycled denim, created in collaboration with artists Raja Malek and Luqman Hannan alongside Furniture and Choice Malaysia. Additionally, a striking replica of a white-bellied sea-eagle sculpture crafted from plastic water bottles epitomises the potential of creativity to promote sustainability while connecting visitors to the public art showcased at Elmina.
