PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby Property (SDP) has launched the Elmina Lakeside Mall and Elmina Outdoor Sculpture Museum in the City of Elmina, Selangor, officiated by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. 

Also present at the launch event were Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and other dignitaries and state agency officials.

The mall has been operational since August last year and features anchor tenants Jaya Grocer, Harvey Norman, Kenny Hills Bakers, Nak Nak and Ediya Coffee. Spanning over 200,000 sq ft of net lettable area across 17.2 acres, it is strategically located within a 20-minute drive for a catchment population of 870,000 residents, making it a key driver of connectivity and convenience.

To reduce carbon footprint and foster community interaction, the mall has an open-air design, cycling paths, bicycle parking and 16 EV charging bays. It also has planned solar panel installations in the pipeline. 

Complementing the mall, Elmina Outdoor Sculpture Museum provides a dedicated space to showcase contemporary Malaysian artists and will soon expand to include regional and international talents. Its inaugural exhibit, The Wealthy Horizons sculpture by Abdul Multhalib Musa, sets the tone for this innovative cultural destination.

“Elmina Lakeside Mall has exceeded our expectations from the outset, achieving an impressive 99% occupancy rate and attracting significant footfall, with over 180,000 visitors during the opening week and a sustained monthly average of 640,000. The City of Elmina spans across 6,500 acres and integrates residential, commercial and industrial developments with over 1,100 acres of green spaces, a 300 acres Central Park and modern amenities designed for connectivity and functionality. Home to 67,000 residents, it is expected to accommodate a population of 150,000 upon completion. The township is also home to the 1.09 acres Elmina Rainforest Knowledge Centre, a facility which focuses on environmental education and conservation, research and development, promotion of eco-tourism and other green activities; the Elmina Business Park, Klang Valley’s largest freehold industrial business hub; as well as Malaysia’s longest jogging and cycling track spanning 90km.
