Scientex, Sime Darby Beyond Auto to drive affordability of homes, EV
SELANGOR: Scientex Bhd, through its subsidiary Scientex Park (M) Sdn Bhd, has joined forces with Sime Darby Beyond Auto Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Sime Darby Motors, to drive affordable sustainability in property development and mobility solutions for a greener future.
The collaboration took a significant step forward with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Scientex and Sime Darby Beyond Auto to be preferred marketing campaign partners in conjunction with the new launch of Scientex’s Mori Residences 2 condominium project in Rawang, Selangor. The development integrates GreenRE principles and features environmentally responsible design and EV charging stations.
Signing the MoU were Scientex chief operating officer Datuk Alex Khaw, executive director Koay Teik Chuan and chief executive officer Lim Peng Jin. Representing Sime Darby Motors were managing director Jeffrey Gan and head of sales distribution Calvin Sze-Tho. BYD Malaysia was represented by its deputy general manager Tay Ee Ran.
The collaboration aims to accelerate Malaysia’s sustainability agenda by bringing greater affordability to sustainably-built homes and electric vehicles (EVs). Both companies are committed to creating positive impacts on the nation’s journey towards an environmentally responsible future.
Scientex, a leading property developer in Malaysia, is committed to delivering 50,000 affordable homes by 2028 across 30 townships nationwide and integrating UN Sustainable Development Goals in its planning. The property developer has plans to establish charging stations at selected locations nationwide, leveraging its presence in affordable housing townships. This initiative aims to install sustainable elements in its affordable developments while supporting greater EV adoption among the masses, accelerating the transition to a sustainable lifestyle.
Sime Darby Beyond Auto is a key player in driving EV adoption in Malaysia and is the sole distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia. BYD has established itself as the country’s fastest-growing automotive brand with over 2,000 EVs already delivered nationwide.
As such, Scientex and Sime Darby Beyond Auto aim to inspire the public towards embracing sustainable choices that will positively impact the environment and society. This shared goal will be achieved through educational and marketing campaigns, including promotional activities and attractive incentives to bring greater accessibility to EVs and affordable homes.
