PETALING JAYA: Rumah Mampu Milik Wilayah Persekutuan (RUMAWIP) achieved 65% of its target last December, successfully launching 52,562 units of RUMAWIP affordable houses to the public, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansur.
An initiative to encourage the collaboration of local authorities and developers to design and develop affordable housing, RUMAWIP has a target of 80,000 units, which included the 206 units provided by Uda Holdings Bhd in its latest project, Legasi Residence Kampong Bharu.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of Legasi Residence Kampong Bharu, Tengku Adnan, said the 206 units of RUMAWIP homes will be housed in a 43-level block. Each unit will have a built-up area of 807 sq ft and priced at RM300,000.
“As the units are located in the same building with those priced at market value, the owners will be able to enjoy the same facilities, which include playground, gym, swimming pool, library, BBQ area and more.
“It is also located near to Putra Kampong Bharu LRT station, and accessible to AKLEH highway,” he added.
Tengku Adnan had also officiated the balloting session for RUMAWIP.
Uda Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Mohd Shafei Abdullah said this development, spanning across 2.8 acre of land, has completed 20% of its construction.
“The offer of RUMAWIP units are in line with the government’s effort to increase the homeownership rate of bumiputera, especially in the urban area,” he said.
He added that the other units will be priced from RM680,960. There will also be a total of 126 commercial and retail units.
