THE market in Pusat Bandar Rawang is undergoing upgrading works to make it safer for customers.
Selayang Municipal (MPS) councillor Ang Tan Loong said the council had allocated RM180,000 for the project that included building barriers on the sidewalks to stop illegal parking, upgrading the foodcourt, repairing leaking roof and installing LED lights throughout the building.
“The State Economic Planning Unit has also confirmed that it will be giving MPS RM248,000 for the upgrading project and the money must be spent by December.
“This additional budget will be used to build a staircase from the ground floor to the first floor at the existing foodcourt.

THE market in Pusat Bandar Rawang is undergoing upgrading works to make it safer for customers.

“We will also paint the two-storey market and replace drain covers.
“At present, we have requested our enforcement department to ensure traders do not set up stalls on the sidewalk.
“We have also warned traders that action will be taken against them if they flout the rules,” he said.
Ang said the works would be done in stages and market traders would not have to move out temporarily. There are 298 traders at the market.
“We are hoping that when the entire area is upgraded, more people will do their marketing here as well as eat at the food court on the first floor,” he added.
