PETALING JAYA: Four architecture students have won a competition organised by property developer Eupe Corporation Bhd (Eupe) and UCSI University’s School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) to design a key part of the Circadia@Belfield new sales gallery.
Circadia@Belfield is an upcoming RM1bil residential development project located in Kuala Lumpur. Eupe plans to launch the Circadia project by the end of the year and the sales gallery will be constructed over the next few months.
The winning team comprised Oon Wu Han, Scarlet Koon Si Qiu, Gasten Gan Yi Hong and Yew Wei Zen, who took the RM3,000 cash prize.
In addition to the winning team, four other teams were also shortlisted. Their entries were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising the SABE deputy dean Professor Teoh Chee Keong, Eupe’s strategic projects director Paul Chang and Circadia’s external architectural consultant Ng Wai Keong.
Eupe property development director Tan Ming Siang praised the high quality of the entries in his keynote speech.
“The entries all showed an impressive range of innovative thinking and practical design solutions,” he said. “It’s given us a lot of insights into how a new generation of architects and designers think about and approach project design.”
Professor Teoh said the competition was an invaluable opportunity for students to apply the skills and knowledge they have learned in a university setting in a practical and challenging way.
“(It) has offered the opportunity for students to understand the challenges and constraints of designing for the real world, which is not always possible in an academic environment,” he said.
