PETALING JAYA: Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) held the PR1MA-MIP Township Ideas Competition (2017/18) recently.
About the competition:
- Theme: “Youth in Community (YIC) - Why I See”
- Aim: To engage young Malaysian designers to seek innovative ideas and insights for the creation of sustainable townships to suit the needs and lifestyle of young community
The competition was divided into four categories which are:
- Neighborhood Design Ideas for Students (planning, architecture and landscape)
- Township Design Ideas for MIP Young Graduates (planning)
- Green Township Design for MIP New Planning Firms (planning)
- PR1MA Research Proposal (open to public)
“PR1MA believes that youth of today will become the leaders of tomorrow, and it is important to make sure their voices are heard. This competition is a great platform for them to express their ideas and aspiration through designs that not only reflect their needs and interests but also their role in the community.
This initiative is also in line with PR1MA goal of going beyond the construction of houses to achieve community-building,” said PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias in a statement.
A total of RM100,000 cash prizes were presented by Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Idris bin Jusoh to the 16 winners.
