TEN members of the Petaling Jaya Section 14 A Rukun Tetangga (RT) will be participating in the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017.
Chairman Tee Kee Tian said the RT is sponsoring the 10 because the walk is in conjunction with National Day.
“We paid their registration fees as we support any activity that helps foster togetherness and national unity,” said Tee, who has been chairman since 2003.
The participants plan to carpool for the walk in Shah Alam and have lunch in Klang after that.
“We are so excited about this outing,” said Tee, adding the RT was founded in 1975 and is the oldest in the country.
He said it was important for the younger generation to understand the foundation of the country.
“The younger generation must appreciate the decades of peace and harmony we have enjoyed.”
The print and online media should focus on positive stories of the country and its people too.
“We should raise our flag as we were born here and this is our country. Let us focus on the positive,” said Tee.
The RT has also been organising a Merdeka Golf event since 2006, to raise funds for worthy causes.
Tee said this year they will be giving adult diapers to residents of Rumah Ehsan in Kuala Kubu Baru.
“We will donate cash to the National Kidney Foundation too,” he said.
To foster good ties between the residents the RT hosts Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year and Deepavali celebrations too.
#AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017 will be held at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam on Aug 27.
#AnakAnakMalaysia Walk is organised by Star Media Group in collaboration with Eco World Development Group Bhd.
