THE Penang government has allocated RM100,000 to upgrade the A-Zone basketball court in Jalan Tenggiri, Butterworth in Penang.
Managed by Pertubuhan Perayaan Yee Lan Seberang Jaya, the court, which doubles as a multi-purpose hall, is in poor condition.
The organisation’s chairman Loo Kim Fong said the basketball court was built in 1984.
“We need to fix the wiring and the flooring which has holes all over.
He was speaking during a cheque presentation ceremony attended by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at the basketball court recently.
Loo said the upgrading work was expected to start soon.
He said the venue was previously known as Akira Basketball Court.
Also present were exco members Lim Hock Seng, Phee Boon Poh and Dr Afif Bahardin.
The basketball court rental is between RM300 and RM500 per day.
