PETALING JAYA: Although property technology has been available for the market for quite some time, Exastrata Solutions Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Sr Adzman Ariffin lamented that the industry has not fully embraced it.
He mentioned, “Property technology changes the way we plan, build, maintain and use our socio-economic infrastructure. It refers to all aspects of innovation and impacts the built environment. This includes hardware, software, or materials for manufacturing.
“Proptech is a general all-encompassing symptom. It also refers to small start-ups that are using technology to address the market's problem. It came up because it had solutions to provide for certain problems,” he added during his talk on “How PropTech is Transforming Real Estate Activities.”
He mentioned that the Malaysian Institute of Professional Property Managers (MIPPM) organised a seminar specifically about property technology back in October, and discovered that many people were still in the dark about property technology.
Adzman also mentioned that property consultants need to make use of all the tools available in the market to improve their performance.
“Drones are one of the few technologies that are on the rise very quickly. It allows you to take images and explore parts of your property that you might not have even noticed. Not to mention, virtual reality technology is also becoming increasingly prevalent. It can be used in a way to give prospects an interactive experience,” said Sr Adzman.
He also added that these are only a few examples of the technologies that are in the market that can improve the performance of property consultants. He urged the audience to get familiarised with as many technologies as possible to get an edge in their tasks.
Adzman spoke during the 32nd edition of Malaysian Annual Real Estate Convention, (MAREC’18) organised by The Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA).
