The USJ 13 Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) members patrol their neighbourhood on bicycles, three times a week, to keep the area safe.
Nick Loong, who heads the KRT cycling patrol, said there were 10 regulars in the patrolling unit.
“Initially some members borrowed bicycles, donated by Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh, but once they got into cycling, they bought their own gear.
“Our focus is on neighbourhood safety and promoting a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
In line with their goal to promote health and fitness among residents, a line dance group is currently recruiting members.
Residents can also play table tennis at the community hall.
The patrol team is one of several units in the KRT, USJ 13 KRT chairman Kelvin Chew said.
He delegates duties and each team has its own jerseys.
“We were formed in 2002 and have more than 20 members. We keep tabs via Whatsapp groups.
“We work together with the USJ 13 Residents Association,” he said.
He added that they organised gotong-royong sessions, every three months, and received good participation so far.
A community gardening initiative has also been introduced after getting approval from the Subang Jaya Municipal Council, and participants take turns to water and tend to the garden.
