KUALA LUMPUR: Over the past seven years, United Engineering Malaysia (UEM) Group Berhad have displayed giant Malaysian flags in their headquarters here without fail as a show of patriotism in conjunction with the National Day celebrations.
This year was no different, as they unfurled a flag measuring 60 meters by 28 meters and covering six floors of their 29th floor Mercu UEM building, located close to KL Sentral.
The flag, which weighs about one tonne took about ten hours to fully unfurl on Sunday, in an exercise that involved ten personnel and a crane. The company use a new flag every year.
"We prefer not to reveal the cost of the flag as it is insignificant when compared to its nationalistic values and ideals.
"Suffice to say it is made out of perforated vinyl and weighs slightly less than a ton," said UEM Berhad Groups Deputy Senior Manager (Group Corporate Communications) Juliana Jamaluddin.
She said the flag will be on display on their building until Sept 17.
