KUALA LUMPUR: Mega Legacy (M) Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company of UEM Sunrise Bhd, recently celebrated the groundbreaking of The Beat 2.0 Kiara Bay, alongside a signing ceremony with the development’s new retail partners, Harvey Norman Malaysia and BM Green Energy Sdn Bhd.

“We are proud to embark on this collaboration with Harvey Norman to promote The Beat 2.0 as an innovative urban development, which seamlessly integrates living, leisure, and retail elements,” UEM Sunrise chief executive officer Sufian Abdullah said.

Additionally, UEM Sunrise partnered with BM Green Energy in line with its sustainability agenda, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency. The company is a registered Solar Photovoltaic (PV) investor under the Sustainable Energy Development Authority of Malaysia (SEDA) to install and operate a rooftop solar PV energy system at The Beat, the development’s first iteration.

The Beat is an 11.66-acre retail property with 21 lakefront lots and a 100% take-up rate. Due to its strong response, UEM Sunrise launched The Beat 2.0 to leverage the area's expanding activity and recent property launches.

“Switching to renewable energy sources exemplifies UEM Sunrise’s dedication towards sustainable energy consumption. On top of savings in utility bills, collaborating with BM Green  Energy to power The Beat with solar energy will put us on the right track towards achieving carbon neutrality target by 2050,” Sufian said.

The signing ceremony was represented by Mega Legacy chairlady and UEM Sunrise director  Zaida Khalida Shaari, Harvey Norman chief operating officer Jonathan Toh and BM Green Energy executive director Gan Chih Soon.
