KUALA LUMPUR: The heads of firms under the UEM Group of Companies will lead their staff and family members at the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017 this Sunday.
The five chiefs are helming their team of 150 participants and their families at the event to promote unity and harmony among Malaysians.
The bosses are from the five companies under the UEM umbrella – UEM Group Bhd managing director and CEO Datuk Izzaddin Idris; PLUS Malaysia Bhd managing director Datuk Azman Ismail; UEM Sunrise Bhd managing director and CEO Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib; Cement Industries of Malaysia Bhd (CIMA) managing director Mohd Yusri Md Yusof; and UEM Edgenta Bhd managing director and CEO Datuk Azmir Merican.
The five leaders believe that unity and diversity are essential to the future of Malaysia.
UEM Group’s Izzaddin said unity has formed the fabric of Malaysian society all these years and it will help to take the country further.
“We need to harness this potential as it will take us and the country to the next level,” he added.
Azman of PLUS said the walk is a demonstration of what UEM believes in and as leaders, they need to walk the talk.
“The #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017 represents the need to uphold the social contract we have in Malaysia,” he said.
For Anwar Syahrin of UEM Sunrise, the walk represents his pride of being a Malaysian and is an effort of solidarity with his fellow citizens.
“We want everybody to know how proud we are to be anak-anak Malaysia and it is a mark of respect for our community,” he said.
CIMA’s Mohd Yusri said walking with other like-minded citizens is UEM’s way of rendering support for #AnakAnakMalaysia.
“Such an event signifies the reality of a united Malaysia we have today. It is no longer an aspiration but we need to continue to foster it for the future,” he added.
Azmir of UEM Edgenta said as a firm believer in the strength that unity brings to an organisation and a country, he decided to join in the walk.
“We all believe in the same good thing for Malaysia – strength in diversity and we will show it,” he added.
#AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017 will be held at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam on Aug 27.
