TWO new young candidates will be sworn in as Petaling Jaya City (MBPJ) councillors next Tuesday before the monthly full board meeting starts.
Daniel Lee and Lim Yi Wei will be sworn in under the DAP quota to replace Lee Soong Yee and former party whip Lee Suet Sen, respectively.
Once they take the oath at MBPJ, Lim will be assigned to oversee Sections 11, 12 and 13 while Lee will be in charge of PJU1, SS4 and the SS25 neighbourhoods.
“Their appointment letters were issued on Aug 22,” said MBPJ public relations officer Zainun Zakaria.
She confirmed the swearing-in would be on the day of the council’s full board meeting, which was on the eve of National Day.
When contacted, MBPJ councillor and current party whip Terence Tan said the two new candidates would fit in to their roles well.
“I am confident that both of them will do well, thanks to their experience dealing with council and parliamentary matters,” he said.
He said both had been personal assistants to two Selangor MPs and they had a good track record so far.
“They have shown very good work attitude and their personalities fit this job,” he added.
Lee, who just turned 32 a few days ago, used to work for Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo from 2011 until 2013.
He was put in charge of managing constituents and dealing with their issues.
“I have experience dealing with government agencies that include local council matters,” he said.
Since 2013, he has been working with a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that help urban poor communities in the Klang Valley.
Lim, who worked for Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, was out of the country and could not be reached for comment.
