Advancing towards TOD: MAPEX 2017 provides solutions to property enthusiasts

PETALING JAYA: A number of public transportation projects had seen successful progress and implementation over the year, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
These include the LRT extension, the MRT commencement between Sungai Buloh and Semantan stations, with a LRT3 project connecting Bandar Utama and Klang that should soon begin.
“The projects will further enhance connectivity within the Klang Valley, targeted to cater to a large number of over two million commuters upon its completion in 2020,” Liow enthused.
On Saturday, he graced the opening ceremony of Malaysia Property Expo (MAPEX) 2017.
Liow said that this years’ theme for the property showcase is, “Greater Connectivity for Better Affordable Living”, adding that such a theme for the MAPEX event is indeed of utmost timeliness and crucial.
He added, “enhancing the nation’s connectivity through transportation networks by land, air and sea has long been a core focus, implementing numerous initiatives aiming to create an integrated, efficient, secure and convenient transport system for the people.
“Transit-oriented developments (TODs) have become increasingly valued, contributing to the growth of any township or even standalone property developments, ultimately serving to drive the nation’s socio-economic growth,” said Liow.
MAPEX has for 18 years stood as the nations’ largest and longest running property event launched by the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA) Malaysia.
The MAPEX showcase this year has welcomed a strong participation, with over 50 exhibitors made up of property developers, financial institutions, government agencies, as well as industry partners.
Visitors can stand a chance to enjoy purchaser rebates, and lucky draws, while children can be kept occupied with a children’s playground and blocks and carnival games.
Visitors to the expo may also treat themselves to free popcorn and cotton candy, batik painting, henna art and balloon sculptures.
The three-day property event will go on until Monday at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 10am till 9pm.
