StarProperty.my Buyers’ Sentiment Survey Report 2018 finds first-time buyers, upgraders and investors having different views on 2018
On the other hand, upgraders quoted lifestyle changes, income stability and insufficient space as the top three reasons why they choose to move out of their current homes.
The majority (58.25%) of upgraders are seen to move to new premises after living in their previous homes for more than five years. Evidently, Malaysians are still reluctant to make big property decisions such as moving into a new house within a short period of time.
Similar to first-time buyers, a high percentage of upgraders prefer to move into a landed terraced property (50.46%) and to live in the Klang Valley (50.16%).
An interesting find regarding upgraders is although 33.01% of them are living in properties of RM300,000 to RM500,000 and 26.33% are in properties of RM500,000 to RM700,000, as many as 28.04% of them are planning to move to properties in the price range of RM500,000 to RM700,000 while 25.16% want to move to properties worth RM300,000 to RM500,000.
The increase in the percentage of those looking for a property upgrade shows the optimism of Malaysians when it comes to their buying aspirations, which is beneficial to the property market and the country’s economy.
