Cyberjaya: Over 600 people of all ages participated in the Symphony Fun Walk & Run 2017 which was organised by UEM Sunrise Bhd on August 12.
The event was held to strengthen community engagement initiatives as well as promote healthy living for its residents. It also highlighted Symphony Hill as an exclusive residential development in Cyberjaya. The running tracks covered a distance of over 5km.
According to statement, Symphony Fun Walk & Run 2017 also drew participants from far away regions like the United Kingdom, India, Indonesia and also the Philippines. The event started at 10 am with the audience performing a warming up Zumba session with the management of UEM Sunrise.
This is then followed by UEM Group Bhd chairman Tan Sri Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa flagging off the event with an air horn and a blast of confetti. The young and old were equally being represented here. Some even brought along their children who sat luxuriously in the prams while their parents pushed them along. They too were awarded a medal for participating.
According to Melania and Fernando Davila from the UK, “We are delighted to participate in the Symphony Fun Walk & Run 2017. We ran together with our daughter, Lily and it was a great family bonding time for us”.
Banker Abdul Rahim said that the exhilarating hilly trail and picturesque landscape made the run really fun and he would participate again if UEM Sunrise was to organise the same in the near future.
“It is our priority to ensure that our communities are able to enjoy recreational activities that can help enhance their quality of life when they stay within a township or a development by UEM Sunrise,” said UEM Sunrise Bhd managing director and chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib. All participants were provided with a free T-shirt, certificate, water tumbler, bottled water and a chance to win the lucky draw.
The festivities were further enhanced by the Victoria Institution Marching Band’s performance with the drums. Lively acts by the String Quartet and Acapella-Colour of Voices also entertained the participants and their families.
A Mini Carnival was also being held with a plethora of family-friendly activities such as sand art, ring toss, face painting and free popcorns.
A friendly clown also participated in the event with the colloquial name of Abang Mat Clown. He entertained the children by shaping swords out of his special elongated balloons. Throughout the event, food trucks such as The Burger Shop, Juice Works, Little Fat Duck and Milo were there to attend to the thirsty and hungry crowd.
