Fireworks lit Cheras up at the stroke of midnight

Themed “Colourful 2019”, Sunway Velocity Mall’s New Year Eve celebration lit the Cheras skyline with colours, sparkles and music at sharp midnight. Visitors thronged to the celebration dressed up in colours they hope represent their 2019 well, as early as 12pm.

Before the customary fireworks display that wowed the audience, the highlight of the night was the LIVE performance by famous local artists. Household names like Aizal Tahir, Dayang Nurfaizah, Paperplane Pursuit, Alvin Chong, Juztin Lan, Khai Bahar and Jenn Chia had the crowd cheering and applauding through the night.

Fans also got the chance to a Meet & Greet session with the artists on stage through special redemption campaign for Platinum VIP Passes. Other attractive giveaways were flight tickets to Japan by H.I.S Travel and a 2D1N Stay at Sunway Velocity Hotel.

As with Malaysian culture that glorifies and appreciates good food, Sunway Velocity Mall New Year celebration featured a ‘Food Truck Lane’ to indulge the visitors with a wide array of street food and snacks from all across the world.

Other activities that visitors got to enjoy were quirky 3D photo booths, free VeloKiddie Kids Club, VeloStudent Club, and Sunway Pals membership registrations, fun carnival games that included gifts such as early bird incentives for the Sunway Velocity TWO residence which is strategically located in the KL city centre.

A significant part of the celebration revolved around giving back to the community. A total of 20 kids from Yayasan Sunbeam Homes had a fun day out at the mall.  They were treated to a variety of activities such as train ride, blockbuster movie, lunch, and playtime at TGV, TGV Indulge and KidzB respectively. They also learnt hand-painting through an arts and crafts session. Their colourful hands, each carrying the message of love, peace and joy made up the leaves of the Tree of Hope which was featured on the concert stage backdrop, later on.

The kids went back with goodie bags and the management donated electronic goods worth RM3,000 to the home to further enhance the quality of their everyday lives.
