Natural elements add sparkle to Sunway Iskandar which rests on sustainable development principles
Following Sunway City and Sunway City Ipoh’s extraordinary transformations, Sunway Property is now busy developing its third masterpiece, Sunway Iskandar, in Asean’s next growth centre of Iskandar Malaysia.
The Sunway Iskandar township recently won the highest accolade (Excellence) at the StarProperty.my Awards 2018 in The Five Elements Award category. The Award recognises townships that seamlessly integrate five essential elements – security, amenities, connectivity, education and healthcare for its community.
The 1,800-acre Sunway Iskandar, which borders Singapore, has all that and more. Anchored on sustainable development principles, about 700 acres of the township is covered with pockets of lush equatorial forests that Sunway has committed to protecting. The pristine Pendas River meanders through the city with a shoreline abundant with mangrove trees.
The sublime natural surroundings, fresh air and wide open space are amplified with the amenities and connectivity that make it an ideal place to live, learn, work and play – rightly earning the township its second name of Nature’s Capital City. Security is priority as the township is safeguarded by Sunway’s own auxiliary police team.
The township is a remarkable showcase of Sunway’s capability to build, own and operate. Sunway is committed to the lifelong growth of the community, being the largest stakeholder in Sunway Iskandar which is planned for a gross development value of RM30bil.
Sunway Iskandar is set to flourish with six masterfully crafted precincts – The Capital, The Parkview, The Lakeview, The Riverside, The Seafront, and The Marketplace – names that allude to the distinctive character of each district.
Once completed, every precinct will exhibit Sunway’s signature flair for integration, which brings together vibrant retail spaces, contemporary office spaces, education, healthcare, as well as entertainment and leisure elements intended to support a superlative lifestyle as well as robust commercial activities.
Living in Sunway Iskandar
Sunway Group founder Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah’s incredible foresight and community-building imperative is already evident in the township’s first precinct, The Lakeview.
With a tranquil 20-acre lake as its centerpiece, the scenic Lake-view precinct is gaining attention as the latest hotspot for both Johoreans and Singaporeans. Residents and visitors are flocking to participate in the brisk community life at the lake-fronting Sunway Citrine Hub, an integrated lifestyle centre attracted by Sunway’s blend of lifestyle, office, retail components and a 24/7 Care Centre where basic healthcare is offered free to the community.
Here, people are buying fresh produce at the only Jaya Grocer in Johor, shopping in the many retail outlets, and interacting with the businesses that have set up shop in Sunway Citrine Hub. In the evenings and on weekends, the lakeside turns into a robust public space for walks, gatherings and even picnics.
The vibrancy of the area is amplified by the hive of activity at the adjacent Sunway International School Sunway Iskandar. Once Iskandar Emerald Boulevard is completed later this year, another 88 retail outlets together with a street bazaar and lifestyle area will add even more vivacity to the hub.
Within the precinct, two exclusive residential sanctuaries are being constructed – Emerald Residences to be ready this year and Citrine Lakehomes which will be completed by 2020.
Cultural and commercial precint
Next to The Lakeview precinct is The Marketplace, Sunway Iskandar’s cultural and commercial precinct which is being rapidly populated. The first of the many developments within this precinct is Sunway GRID, a dynamic work, stay, and play nucleus for young couples and entrepreneurs. Next to it, a Chinese national school, SJKC Cheah Fah, will be built.
Three tourism elements are being planned in the precinct. Johor’s first extreme park, the 32-acre XPark, will unveil its numerous attractions at the end of the year, including go-karting, kayaking, glamping spots, archery, and a kids’ pump track.
Next to the XPark is the unique 500,000sq ft Sunway Big Box Village which will feature large warehouse-like structures offering a truly “gigantic” retail experience. A hotel is also in the works.
As development gains momentum across its precincts, and with the Coastal Highway Southern Link now complete, Sunway Iskandar is poised to become the heartbeat of the fast-growing Iskandar Malaysia.
