Kuala Lumpur: A modular home insurance plan was officially launched last Friday by one of the fastest growing insurers in Malaysia, Allianz General Insurance Company (AGIC) (Malaysia) Bhd.
As the leading general insurer in Malaysia, AGIC has a broad range of services which include small to medium enterprise businesses, and large industrial risks.
This momentous launch was graced by AGIC (Malaysia) chief executive officer Zakri Khir and AGIC (Malaysia) chief operating officer Sean Wang.
“Over eight million homes are in Malaysia but only 25 percent are insured resulting in a figure of two million homes.
“Cost and rigid home insurance products have always been the biggest factors that hold customers back. Well with Smart Home Cover (SHC) - not anymore,” said AGIC (Malaysia) chief executive officer Zakri Khir.
“Equipped with five special features such as HouseOwner, HouseHolder, Mortgage Loan Installment Protection, Homefix and LandLord insurance, SHC allows customers to tailor make their home insurance that fits individual client requirements,” added Zakri.
AGIC (Malaysia) chief operating officer Sean Wang explained, “HouseOwner covers the residential building against damage. HouseHolder will cover the household contents.
“While Mortgage Loan Installment Protection covers the monthly loan installment in the events that the house is deemed temporarily uninhabitable due to insured events or evacuation by local authority exceeding 72 hours or the insured suffers accidental death or total permanent disablement.
“Home Fix is the most unique and special element in this Smart Home Cover as it cover includes reimbursements in repairing burst pipes; repairs or temporary repair of doors, locks and windows arising from theft, domestic help allowance and any home repair or service solicited through Allianz partners such as ServisHero and Recommend.my.
“Landlord Insurance is a relief for landlords as it has potential to protect them from unruly tenants that may cause damage to a home and simple leave without a trace. The legal fee for issuing a Letter of Demand (LOD) will also be covered by AGIC..
“Since most use air-conditioning at home, you can use Home Fix to service your air-conditioner,” Sean added.
Aside from all the aforementioned issues faced, if one would face any difficulty in determining the amount of insuring one’s home, AGIC’s agents are ready to assist homeowners to determine the amount to insure based on an agreed value.
Customers who live in non-flood prone areas will also enjoy discounts on their HouseOwner premium.
Those who intend to insure one’s home should invest in SHC by walking into any AGIC branch nationwide or contact one’s personal AGIC agent. For more information on Smart Home Cover, visit allianz.com.my.
