To further motivate and support this international expansion, FIABCI Malaysia and Star Media Group introduced the International Award as part of their Special Awards category in the Malaysia Developer Awards. This prestigious recognition celebrates Malaysian developers who have ventured beyond local borders, achieving remarkable success and setting new benchmarks in the property industry worldwide.
A celebration of global success
The International Award honours Malaysian developers who have not only expanded their presence globally but have also made a significant impact through visionary ideas and groundbreaking projects that inspire their peers. The award highlights developers who take on the challenge of international competition while maintaining their Malaysian identity and ethos.
To qualify, developers must be at least 51% Malaysian-owned and must have an active presence in foreign markets. These projects are expected to showcase the same level of excellence, creativity and innovation that one would expect from any international development.
The methodology
As with the Rising Star and Transformation Awards, the International Award evaluation process is thorough, focusing heavily on project attributes. Seven key attributes are meticulously assessed, ensuring that the nominated developments meet the highest standards of quality, innovation and sustainability.
Beyond project attributes, the evaluation also takes a deep dive into the companies themselves. Developers must provide extensive details about their international ventures, from the inception of the project to its completion. This includes insight into the strategies employed, challenges faced and solutions implemented throughout the construction process.
The financial sustainability and long-term viability of the developers are equally crucial in this evaluation, ensuring that the recipients of the International Award are not only delivering outstanding projects but are also building sustainable businesses that can continue to thrive in the global market.

This year, only one project received the prestigious International Award, namely 1060 Carnegie by MRCB Land Sdn Bhd. Located in Melbourne, Australia, 1060 Carnegie is a prime example of Malaysian developers pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved on the global stage. With a focus on quality, modern design and sustainable practices, MRCB Land has created a development that not only meets the expectations of international buyers but also elevates the Malaysian property development industry in the eyes of the world.
The success of 1060 Carnegie serves as a powerful reminder that Malaysian developers have the expertise, creativity and resilience to compete with the best in the world. It also underscores the importance of continuing to encourage more developers to explore international opportunities, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved and solidifying Malaysia’s place on the global property development map.
