Fourth win to date
KUALA LUMPUR: Setia Precast Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of SP Setia Bhd, was awarded the Industrialised Building System (IBS) Special Award category at the Malaysia Construction Industry Excellence Award (MCIEA) 2017 for the construction of the Seri Kasturi affordable apartments in Setia Alam.
It is S P Setia’s fourth win of the Award.
The event was organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) at the KL Hilton on Sept 15. Present to receive the award was SP Setia Bhd executive vice president Kow Choong Ming who accepted the honour from CIDB Malaysia chief executive Datuk Ir. Ahmad Asri Abdul Hamid. Also present at the event was Malaysian Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
“We are greatly honoured to be receiving this award twice in a row as the MCIEA is the most credible and respectable award in the construction industry. For us to win in this IBS category for our affordable apartment project again speaks volume of our commitment towards excellence in delivering quality products,” said Kow.
According to statement, SP Setia Bhd’s affordable apartments in Setia Alam, as well as Setia EcoHill in Semenyih, were constructed using the precast construction system to ensure consistent quality on completion with minor defects thus reduces rectification costs and inconveniences. This system also uses less labour as most of the structural components can be prefabricated off-site.
Other affordable apartments in Setia Alam which were built using this system were Seri Baiduri, Seri Intan, Seri Jati, Seri Mutiara and Seri Pinang.
