PETALING JAYA: S P Setia Bhd board of directors has confirmed Datuk Khor Chap Jen (pic) as its president and chief executive officer with effect from April 1.
The property company said the board had also confirmed Datuk Wong Tuck Wai as its deputy president and chief operating officer and Choy Kah Yew as its chief financial officer effective April 1.
“The board expressed its confidence that the confirmation of these three key management positions will continue to contribute positively to the sustainable growth of the company,” said chairman Tan Sri Dr Wan Mohd Zahid Mohd Noordin.
S P Setia said Khor, who assumed the role of acting president and CEO on Jan 1, 2015, had been lending his expertise to the group since 1995.
“During his appointment as the acting president and CEO, Khor has demonstrated his leadership in motivating and leading Team Setia in achieving a commendable results despite challenges faced in people movement in the company.
“He put the team in place and ensured a continuity of business operations which resulted in the company achieving RM4.32bil in sales for financial year 2015, the highest in the property industry,” it said.
It said S P Setia also won reputable awards in 2015 which showed market recognition of the company as one of the top property developers in the country under his leadership. Some of the awards won are the prestigious FIABCI Malaysia Property Awards 2015, South East Asia Property Awards 2015 and Best Employer Award by Aon Hewitt.
S P Setia said Wong had been with the group for 40 years and as acting deputy president and chief operating officer, he supported Khor in leading Team Setia to achieve a commendable group key performance indicators and and sales results.
It said Wong provided valuable advice and strategic directions in ensuring the continuous and smooth operation of the business despite challenging market conditions. This resulted in various projects achieving their objectives of completion and delivery.
Choy joined S P Setia in April 2014 as the head of corporate affairs and was subsequently appointed acting chief financial officer on June 16, 2014.
He has 24 years of working experience in finance and investment banking. Prior to joining the group, he was the head of capital market at Alliance Investment Bank Bhd.
