PETALING JAYA: S P Setia Corporate Headquarters located in Setia Alam, Shah Alam clinched the Group’s seventh international FIABCI Prix d’ Excellence as the Gold winner of the Sustainable Development category.
The prestigious award ceremony was held in Panama City.
“It is such an honour for us to receive our seventh international FIABCI Prix d’ Excellence award especially in the sustainable development category, which is what Setia is all about, delivering eco developments as well as promoting sustainability for our future generations,” said President and chief executive director Datuk Khor Chap Jen in a statement.
S P Setia’s previous wins included Best Master Plan Developments for Setia Eco Park, Setia Eco Gardens and Setia Alam, Best Retail Development for Setia City Mall, Best Residential (Low-Rise) Development for Setia Eco Park.
The unique 28-acre park complex, Eco Greens at Setia Eco Gardens, previously took home the award for Best Purpose-Built/Specialised Project category.
Setia Corporate HQ pursued the highest achievable Green Building Index (GBI) rating, making it the first private sector owned corporate office to be accorded the GBI Platinum rating.
It is also the first corporate office in the integrated green commercial hub of Setia City at Setia Alam to be accorded a green building status by the Malaysia Green Building Confederation (MGBC).
Some green features incorporated within the development are high performance double glazing glass window and louvers to reduce heat gain and encourage the use of natural day lighting.
It has solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels for harvesting renewable energy, flexible lighting controls such as lighting zoning and individual lighting switches.
Renewable energy generated through the 55 kWPV photovoltaic panel makes up to 2% of total energy consumption while using energy efficient lighting such as T5 fluorescent lighting with high frequency ballast reduce total energy consumption by 8%.
Furthermore, 26.83% of the total net floor area (NFA) is controlled by motion sensors which further reduce total energy consumption by 3%.
The water efficient features include rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation. The installation of low-flow fittings has cut water consumption by 50% compared to conventional fittings.
Approximately 45% of the total material cost derived from recycled or recyclable content materials (RCM) which are mainly steel, aluminium, glass and plasterboard products.
More than 20% of the total material cost are from regional materials that are manufactured within a 500 km radius of the site, thus reducing the energy required for transportation.
There are also efficient air conditioned systems such as raised floors for underfloor air conditioned distribution system, and provision of CO2 sensor.
Other green features include a roof garden and greenery decks to reduce heat, dedicated parking bays for green vehicles and provision of elevated pedestrian connectivity to the surrounding buildings and shopping complexes.
