Hired by local council: Workers resurfacing the road along Jalan Putri Jaya 17 in Taman Putri Jaya, Cheras as part of the project under Marris.
CHERAS and Balakong residents have been warned not to be cheated by road contractors into resurfacing the pavements outside their houses because they have already been paid to complete the task.
Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng said the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) council had allocated RM11.5mil under Malaysian Roads Records Information System (Marris) to resurface roads in 53 areas in the constituency, including the pavement outside homes.
He said he had received three complaints from residents claiming they were approached by road contractors to resurface the pavement outside their homes.
Ng advised the complainants to lodge a police report.
“However, the contractors will not resurface pavements that are tiled or cemented,’’ said Ng, who was with residents and local representatives at Jalan Putri Jaya 17 in Taman Putri Jaya, Cheras.
Ng added that the next batch of road resurfacing costing RM15mil would start in the next two months and would include industrial areas throughout the constituency besides the housing estates. “When the allocation is given, it will take approximately one month to complete,’’ he said.
The 15 areas in the Balakong constituency to be resurfaced are Taman Damai Indah, Bandar Damai Perdana, Taman Sri Minang, Taman Jaya, Persiaran Minang, Taman Putri Jaya, Taman Kasturi, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Taman Bukit Belimbing, Taman Sri Bahagia, Taman Minang Ria, Taman Cheras Jaya, Taman Angsana, Taman Cheras Perdana 2 and Taman Cheras Perdana 5.
