News that Klang’s third bridge will be completed soon was well received by the royal town’s residents.
Ahmad Fauzi Abdullah, 55, of Taman Teluk Pulai said the bridge would cut travel time for residents from the area and the nearby villages.
He said the bridge would pave the way for a smooth drive across Klang River to north Klang and vice-versa.
“Currently, we have to go through town centre in South Klang to go north but we will have direct access once the bridge is ready.
“Those staying in Jalan Tepi Sungai, Taman Teluk Pulai, Sungai Udang, Sungai Bertih, Kampung Raja Uda and other townships will also benefit from the new bridge,” said Fauzi, who is a businessman.
M. Subramaniam of Taman Sri Andalas said he was delighted to hear that the long-awaited bridge was nearing completion.
“We have been hearing about the third bridge for so many years and many are sceptical whether it will materialise.
“Now, the bridge is nearing completion and we are really happy,” he said.
Businessman Ng Sze Hong, 60, of Taman Eng Ann said the traffic system must be improved to ensure Klang folk could benefit from the project.
Ng is concerned about a possible bottleneck at the Taman Teluk Pulai junction where traffic will flow to the new bridge.
“The traffic-light junction is only about 100m away from the link to the third bridge and I hope traffic from the bridge will not lead to a crawl towards the junction.” he said.
Jimmy Tan, 55, from Taman Klang Jaya said the third bridge should be able to reduce the volume of traffic on the existing bridges.
He said he was looking forward to the completion of this new bridge as it would add value to properties in Klang.
“We will have three options for the residents to consider.
“They can use the Jambatan Musaeddin to go into the town, Jambatan Kota will benefit the Shah Alam bound traffic through the KL-Klang Federal Highway while the third bridge can be used by motorists heading to Kapar and Meru,” he said.
Kapar MP G. Manivannan said more than 100,000 residents from Sungai Pinang, Selat Klang and Meru would benefit from the third bridge.
At a briefing last year, Manivannan said Public Works Department officials estimated that the bridge would be able to reduce travel time by 15 minutes.
“Motorists from Kapar and the nearby areas will not be required to go into the town in order to cross the bridge enroute to Port Klang and vice-versa.
“The third bridge will play a very important role to ease the traffic congestion at both sides of town,” he said.
