PEKAN: The Pahang Regent has called for public amenities damaged in the recent floods to be repaired immediately.
Tengku Mahkota Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said agencies like the Public Works Department, Drainage and Irrigation Department and others should look into this.
“They need to go down to the ground to check the damage and look for allocations to conduct repair works.
“The public should cooperate by reporting any damage,” Tengku Abdullah said after visiting flood victims in Kampung Belimbing here.
Tengku Abdullah said if damaged infrastructure is not repaired quickly, the public would be inconvenienced and it would create a bad impression of the government.
“People need to use roads everyday and poor drainage can cause another flood,” Tengku Abdullah said.
He also called on the authorities to clear the rubbish left by floods immediately.
“Locals can help by organising gotong-royong and not just rely on the authorities,” he said.
Tengku Abdullah added flood victims should be thankful that they were well taken care of and housed in relief centres.
“Now that the floods are over, let us look forward to resuming our lives,” he said.
