THE Residents’ Association of Taman Gembira in Klang has set its focus on offering a healthy and sporting environment for its members.
The RA, which works closely with the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), has been successful in equipping its field at Lintang Hilir 3 with par course equipment and a basketball hoop.
Chairman V.M. Surendran said a two-in-one court for futsal and tennis would be available at the field soon.
He said the tennis court built by the residents would be upgraded and converted into a futsal-cum-tennis court.
“This will provide a new tennis court for seniors while the youths will have a new venue to play futsal.
“Currently, the youths play futsal at various private courts where they have to pay a substantial amount for the hourly rental,” he said, adding that they would be able to play for a nominal fee in their own backyard once the court was built.
With the presence of the par course, basketball court, playground for children, tennis and futsal court, Surendran said the RA hoped to promote a healthy and sporty lifestyle for the residents.
He said the parents could take time off to exercise at the par course while their children were playing at the field.
“The presence of the tennis-cum-futsal court will encourage the young ones to spend their free time in sporting activities rather than getting involved in unhealthy activities,” he said.
In line with the RA’s vision, he added that the field in Jalan Balong Ayam would also be equipped with par course equipment, children’s playground and a basketball court.
Besides that, Surendran said the RA was also in the process of converting the area into a gated-and-guarded scheme (G&G).
He said the G&G scheme was necessary to provide security and a peaceful environment for the residents.
“Without proper security, the residents will not be able to enjoy the benefit from the facilities that have been provided for them.
“We do not want our residents to be the target of snatch thieves and armed robberies,” he said
Surendran said the area had its fair share of crime in the past but the RA, with its close collaboration with the police, had successfully brought down the number of cases.
“The G&G scheme will able to help us achieve zero crime in the area and this will allow the residents a lot of freedom to move around the neighbourhood without fear of being a crime victim,” he said.
