HOUSEOWNERS in Jalan BK 9/5 in Puchong are blaming the construction of Alam Sutera LRT station for the cracked walls in their houses and are awaiting Prasarana Malaysia Bhd to rectify the damage as well as build a sound barrier.
Husin Idris, whose house is one of 40 on the street affected, said there were cracks on his kitchen wall and front porch along with water damage.
“It will cost at least RM20,000 to fix the cracks, which has led to water leaks on my ceiling.
“The cracks started appearing when piling work started for the LRT station, and over time they became bigger,” he said.
Their woes were further worsened by another construction project nearby, which resulted in heavy vehicles speeding along the roads around the residential area.
Cahaya Sinar Senja Residents Association president Aminuddin Mohamed said when Alam Sutera LRT station was built, the contractors did not take into consideration the slope of land that they cut into.
“Now, when it rains heavily, mud flows into the culvert at the bottom of the slope.
“The culvert is not deep enough to contain the water so it floods here. And the speeding lorries are endangering pedestrians and children playing outdoors,” he said.
On Oct 9, Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han made a site visit with Prasarana representatives.
Ng later stated on his Facebook page that Prasarana would rectify and clean the blockage of culvert to prevent flash flood at Alam Sutera Station. — By MELIZARANI T. SELVA
