PR1MA reaffirms its commitment to good governance
PETALING JAYA: Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) has reaffirmed its commitment to good governance by strengthening its resolve to be corruption-free as the organisation continues to fulfil the mandate to deliver homes with lifestyle and community concepts for homebuyers from the middle-income group (M40).
According to the statement, more than 300 leaders and staff of PR1MA signed the Corruption-Free Pledge (Ikrar Bebas Rasuah - IBR), an initiative introduced by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at PR1MA Headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
The IBR serves as a reminder to individuals to be accountable and responsible for carrying out their duties without any corrupt practices throughout their tenure.
This initiative also serves as a sign of commitment from the leadership and staff towards PR1MA members, stakeholders and customers. The pledge is also in line with PR1MA’s policy that promotes anti-corruption practices among its internal and external stakeholders.
The IBR signing ceremony was led by PR1MA chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr Alies Anor Abdul and PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib bin Alias, witnessed by Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner Datuk Sri Azam Baki.
In his speech, Datuk Abdul Mutalib said those who conduct corrupt practices to gain personal profit have no place in PR1MA as it is a non-profit-oriented organisation committed to serve the housing needs of the rakyat.
“Our biggest reward is in seeing the middle-income group achieve their dream of owning quality and affordable homes. PR1MA has pledged to fulfil our mandate to build homes for the middle-income group, and the signing of the IBR is proof of our commitment to not let corrupt practices usurp our objectives,” he added.
The openness and accountability displayed by the leadership and staff in signing the IBR also attest to the fact that the responsibility to fight and combat corruption does not fall on MACC alone, but it is the collective duty and responsibility of all members of society.
As of Oct 31, 2017, PR1MA Members of Corporation have approved the development of 259,881 units of PR1MA homes nationwide of which 141,417 units are in various stages of construction.
