NOTHING beats getting your own house even though it is far from the city.
Being the proud owner of one of the townhouse units in Kota Puteri, Batu Arang, Selangor, Muhammad Hafiz Mat Isa is happy to have a place to call his own despite renting an apartment in Selayang.
“Although it is not so close to my workplace in Petaling Jaya, it is better to have my own house rather than living in a rented room.
“I have been looking for a suitable location for three years and when I found out about this property, I quickly grabbed the opportunity to buy it. Since I have to fork out money to pay rent, it is better to use it to buy my own house,” he said.
Muhammad Hafiz was one of the houseowners who attended the handover ceremony by Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) for Rumah Selangorku Idaman in Section 5, Kota Puteri.
The ceremony marked the completion of 198 townhouses.
Priced from RM185,000 to RM197,000, the units’ built-ups are between 92.2sq m and 97sq m.
The two-storey townhouses also come with several custom-made units that cater to senior citizens and the disabled.
PKNS corporate communications manager Ishak Hashim said the units with three bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as modern ceramic tiles, received the Certificate of Completion and Compliance on July 28.
“It is also located near the Latar Highway, Guthrie Highway, Shah Alam–Batu Arang Highway and New Klang Valley Expressway which connects to the city,” he said.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali officiated at the ceremony. He was accompanied by state exco member Datuk Iskandar Samad.
Azmin said the state would continue its effort in providing affordable homes as part of the people-centric initiatives and house ownership democracy where none of Selangor folk would be sidelined.
“Offering affordable homes will help to combat poverty and it is one of the main priorities in the upcoming state Budget 2018.
“We are also focusing on the education and public transport sectors. For education, we are planning to introduce a new scheme which offers skills-training for youths to bridge the demand gap of various industries and to reduce unemployment rate in the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, PKNS also targets to offer 12,000 affordable houses by 2020.
